Online Stopwatch

Use this online stopwatch to measure elapsed time directly in your browser. Start or pause the clock at any time, record lap timestamps and reset the session when finished. The display includes hours, minutes, seconds and hundredths for convenient everyday timing. A stopwatch is useful for exercise, sports drills, study sessions, work tasks, experiments and any activity where you need to measure how long something takes.

How to use the Online Stopwatch

  1. Choose Start to begin measuring elapsed time.
  2. Choose Pause when you want the displayed elapsed time to stop increasing.

  7. The stopwatch calculates elapsed time from browser clock differences rather than assuming each display update lasts exactly the same duration.

Examples

Workout laps

Start the stopwatch before a workout and press Lap after each round while the main clock continues running.

Task timing

Measure how long a repeated work task takes and compare lap timestamps between attempts.

Study session

Start the stopwatch when studying and pause it during breaks to measure active study time.

Experiment timing

Use the elapsed-time display for simple classroom or home experiments that need manual timing.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a timer and stopwatch?

A stopwatch counts upward from zero to measure elapsed time. A timer counts downward from a selected duration toward zero.

Can this stopwatch record laps?

Yes. Select Lap to save the current elapsed timestamp while the stopwatch continues running.

Can I pause and resume it?

Yes. Pause freezes the current elapsed time, and Start resumes timing from that value.

Does resetting remove laps?

Yes. Reset returns elapsed time to zero and clears the current lap list.

Is an online stopwatch suitable for professional race timing?

It is useful for general browser-based timing, but specialized calibrated timing equipment should be used where certified precision is required.

Does the stopwatch run in the browser?

Yes. The elapsed-time logic runs locally in the browser after the page loads.
